Laboratory & Diagnostic Testing: Convenient and Accurate On-Site Services
At ApexMed Primary Care, our CLIA-accredited laboratory and diagnostic services reflect our Apex values. We perform many essential tests right in our office for your comfort, faster results, and seamless continuity of care.
What Does CLIA Accreditation Mean?
CLIA stands for Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments, a federal program established in 1988 and administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). CLIA sets strict quality standards for all U.S. laboratories that perform testing on human specimens for health assessment, diagnosis, prevention, or treatment. Our CLIA accreditation means:
- Our lab meets or exceeds rigorous federal requirements for accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of test results.
- We undergo regular inspections and maintain high standards in personnel qualifications, quality control, proficiency testing, and patient safety.
- You can trust that every blood draw, analysis, or diagnostic test is performed with the highest level of precision and ethical care.
This accreditation gives our patients – especially our geriatric and chronic care patients – peace of mind that their results are dependable and handled professionally.
On-Site Convenience
- Samples collected comfortably in the exam room.
- Processed in-house for quicker turnaround times, supporting timely chronic disease management and preventative care.
- Reduces the need for external lab visits – everything is done under one roof in a relaxed environment.
Common Blood Tests We Perform
Our basic lab services include routine blood draws and analysis for key health markers. Here are some of the most common tests and what they help us evaluate:
- Complete Blood Count (CBC): Measures red and white blood cells, platelets, and hemoglobin. Helps detect anemia, infections, clotting issues, and overall blood health.
- Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP): Assesses glucose (blood sugar), electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride), calcium, and kidney function markers like BUN and creatinine. Provides insight into metabolism, fluid balance, and kidney health.
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP): Includes everything in the BMP plus liver function tests (enzymes and proteins like albumin). Offers a broader view of liver, kidney, and metabolic health.
- Lipid Panel: Measures total cholesterol, HDL (“good” cholesterol), LDL (“bad” cholesterol), and triglycerides. Evaluates cardiovascular risk and heart health.
- Thyroid Panel (with TSH): Checks thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and thyroid hormones (T3/T4). Helps diagnose thyroid disorders that affect energy, weight, mood, and metabolism.
These are just some of the essential tests that help us manage chronic conditions, prescriptions, and preventative wellness – especially for our geriatric patients.
Diagnostic Tests
- On-Site EKG Testing: Electrocardiogram is a quick, painless test that records your heart’s electrical activity. It helps detect irregular rhythms (arrhythmias), poor blood flow to the heart, and other cardiac issues. Ideal for routine screenings or evaluating symptoms like palpitations or shortness of breath.
- Spirometry: A simple breathing test that measures how much air you can inhale and exhale, and how quickly. It assesses lung function and is valuable for diagnosing and monitoring conditions like asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), or other respiratory issues common in older adults.
This on-site setup embodies our commitment to Persistence and Patience, minimizing wait times and empowering you with prompt, accurate insights into your health.
